The Lasinthos Eco Park. Welcome to this unique Park in Lasithi Plateau!

The park invites its guests to get acquainted with the traditional Cretan customs passing from generations to generations as well as with the Cretan way of life and the rich culture of the island. Lasinthos is located in the southeastern part of the Lasithi Plateau, next to the village of Agios Georgios and is ideally integrated into the landscape.

It is a perfect place for active, creative recreation of children and adults. In the park, you can take part in the collection of fresh gifts from mother earth as well as in the manual production of everyday goods and tools in traditional ways. There are opportunities there to engage in wood carving, weaving, pottery, candle making, herb processing as well as in honey, wine and cheese production. You can learn how to cook national dishes and enjoy authentic Cretan cuisine.

Half of the territory in the park is devoted to fields with fruits and vegetables as well as to a livestock farm, where they keep 20 different species of animals and birds. Guests will be able to feed and pet the animals, take pictures with them.

In addition to love for nature and its gifts, Orthodoxy is very important in the life of the Greeks. Therefore, the church of St. Ephraim was placed in the center of the park. Saint Ephraim the New is one of the most recent saints of the Greek Orthodox Christian Church (canonized in 2011). He is known for his martyrdom after refusing to convert to Islam and for his miraculous works. Visit the church to pay your respects to the saint and light a candle in memory of friends and your family.

In Lasinthos you have the opportunity not only to relax but also to spend the night. Comfortable 4-star houses with 15 apartments in the style of a typical village are fully equipped for a pleasant stay and are open all year round. The beautiful view of the Lasithi Valley is a unique one.

Ecopark guests can buy herbs and perfumes with extracts from local plants in the traditional products store. For sale are extra virgin olive oil, raki, honey and wine produced in the park and its surroundings. In addition, the store packs and sells not very common traditional Cretan sweets from must and molasses. Guests will also find bowls, cups and decorative clay items created in the park’s pottery workshop, bags and clothes made of woven and knitted fabrics from the weaving workshop and wood carvings from the wood carving workshop. There are also natural Cretan products from local producers, such as olive oil, products based on it, Cretan cheese, breadcrumbs and olives in various flavors. They are ideal gifts for friends and family.

On the central square of the Ecopark, there is a self-service café snack bar and the restaurant Taverna where you will be offered a lunch prepared with the freshest products collected daily from the fields of the park. The menus include several dietary options such as vegetarian, allergy friendly and authentic Mediterranean diets.
