Visit Feast of Cretan cuisine
The municipality of Heraklion invites you to an interesting gastronomic event—the Cretan cuisine festival 2019 in Heraklion.
The festival will be held from Thursday, 26th to Sunday, September 29th at the Old Vegetable Market.
Last Cretan Cuisine Festival 2018 in Heraklion, held in October at the Venetian port of the island’s capital, provided a good entry point for large annual culinary celebrations in Heraklion.
The festival is dedicated exclusively to the products of Cretan land and the promotion of recipes inspiring modern Cretan cuisine. All the main actors in the restaurant business of Crete will participate in it. In 2018, the 20 largest manufacturers provided Cretan products for the festival; and famous chefs prepared traditional Cretan dishes from them, which were tasted by more than 2,500 people, and more than 6,500 guests visited the festival.
So, after an excellent start in 2018, the organizers are preparing for a larger gastronomic event in 2019 called Cretan cuisine festival 2019 in Heraklion.
At the time of the festival, there will be the celebration of the International Tourism Day (September 27)—at the open area of the Old Vegetable Market, on the coastal alley of Heraklion.
This year the festival and all events will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the National Greek Tourism Organization. The main promoter is the Crete region, and the co-promoters who play important roles in the success of the event are the University of Crete, the Greek Mediterranean University, the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, the Geotechnical Chamber of Crete, the Association of Travel Agencies, the Heraklion Apartment and Room Rental Agency, the Pagkritios Hotel Managers Association, the Heraklion Food and Entertainment Association, the Heraklion Confectioners Association, the Crete Chefs Club, the Cretan Winemakers Association, the Crete Women Entrepreneurs Development Association, the Municipal Enterprise of Culture, Tourism and Development of Heraklion, and the Heraklion Hotel Association.
