Because from the east of it, you will have to go to Elafonissi about 3-4 hours, however, like till the famous white beaches of Balos and Falassarna.

Preveli
A beautiful place, a unique natural phenomenon and a beach to which it makes sense to get by car. Palm beaches in Crete are several, the largest and most famous are Vai and Preveli. But if Vai is very far from the spa towns, then Preveli is quite close and accessible, especially to those who stayed in the Rethymnon area.

The groves of the date palm trees have appeared here thanks to Arabs about 1200 years ago. In the 9th century, they were skilled merchants and seafarers. However, sometimes their ships flooded in off the shores of Crete:  Arabs also traded dates, and in places, where fresh water approached close to the shore, have been brought to the shore dates sprouted and formed palm groves.

Your photo shot on Preveli beach in the shadow of exotic palms will be a good quiz for your friends and relatives – let them guess where you shot this frame: Bali, Dominican Republic or Canary Islands? As a rule, no one can assume that this miracle is in Greece.

Plakias

South Crete and its beaches – this is an obligatory part of the excursion program for experienced Cretan travelers! The beaches in the north and south of the island are very different from each other. The Libyan Sea is deep, cool and transparent, like a tear, leaves completely different sensations from bathing.

Plakias is one of the most famous and popular southern beaches of Crete. Tourists and locals love it for being easy to get there, both by car and organized excursions by TEZ TOUR, as well as for the proximity of the enchanting bays – Plakias, Ammoudi, Damnoni and Sсhinaria. In the sea near all these sand and pebble beaches is a paradise for swimming with mask or diving. Just a few meters from the coast you can see here in the deepness beautiful rocky shores and a lot of fish; and with scuba divers can get to the hidden corners of underwater canyons.

In each bay, the nature itself, like a caring mother, has created small pools along the edges of beaches with shallow water and small pebbles or sand for the youngest bathers and travelers with children.
