A young whale, about 4,5 meters in length, was found on the beach of Karavovrisi, located in the sought of the island, in the Heraklion regional unit (municipality of Phaistos). At dawn on the 15^th of September 2017 the port workers and local residents launched an operation of rescuing the animal.

The whale rescue operation continued for several hours, but as soon as the volunteers managed to move the animal into water, it beached itself again and again.

According to messages of Flashnews.gr and e-mesara.gr, there were information and photos showing that the whale rescue operation was successfully completed, and it went to sea.
